What I Am Comfortable With?

What I Am Comfortable With?

Never Ever

I have never put skis between my feet and the snow before. I have never strapped into a snowboard on snow before.

Beginner

I can stop safely, ride a chairlift, and link some turns on green runs.

Intermediate

I can link basic turns on blue runs, ski parallel on green runs, and can step up or down the hill. I can link most of my turns snowboarding blue runs, can side-slip black runs, and confidently move around/step with one foot in.

Progressive

I can ski parallel on blue runs all the time, have started to ski black runs, a few moguls, dipping into the trees, and I am trying out powder. I can turn on blue runs confidently, making most turns on black runs, dipping into the trees, and I am trying out riding switch and powder.

Advanced

I can ski parallel on black runs, confident in trees and powder, looking good in moguls, and can ski backwards. I am starting to do basic freestyle: airs, grabs, 180s, basic boxes in the park. I want to ski steeper, deeper snow. I can turn in trees, powder, black runs, mogul fields, and ride switch confidently on blue runs. I am starting to do basic freestyle: airs, grabs, 180s, basic boxes in the park. I want to ride steeper, deeper snow.

Expert

I can carve on any run, any conditions. I can ski/snowboard steep trees, powder trees, or powder moguls. I can ride switch on black runs and in Powder. I can land 360s, ski medium boxes/rails, halfpipe, and medium/large jumps in the park.

Extreme

I can do all of the above - and more - with style. I have backcountry gear and have some experience in touring. I have won some competitions.

Pro

I get paid to ski/snowboard. I have multiple sponsors. I'm in magazines, movies, and have a signature line of something. I'm kind of a big deal.
